By executing the command with the /force argument, the default 30-minute query for updated GPOs is ignored, and the computer checks with the domain controller to apply available settings changes immediately.
Typically, Active Directory (AD) domains will replicate changes made to the topology after a finite amount of time has passed since the initial change.
The commands may be run manually, scripted, or via a third-party application, such as PSExec.
It is typically used in conjunction with the gpupdate command to ensure that the latest settings are being applied from the domain controller.
